GLOSSARY OF SEN TERMS
|SEN||Special Educational Needs – a child with special educational needs will be supported by our Additional Support department|
|SEN Support||From September 2014 School Action and School Action Plus will be called SEN Support|
|SA – (prior to 2014 Act)||School Action – A child at School Action will be receiving extra intervention to support them in achieving their expected level|
|SA+ – (prior to 2014 Act)||School Action Plus – a child at School Action Plus will (in addition to school intervention) be supported by outside agencies, for example an Educational Psychologist|
|Statement – (prior to 2014 Act)||For students with a high level of need a statement of Special Educational Needs may be appropriate|
|EHC||Education, Health and Care plan. From September 2014, Statements (band 6 and above) will be replaced with an EHC at the Annual Review. Statements below band 6 will be classed as SEN Support, although any provision will continue|
|SENCo||Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator – Mrs S Jorgensen. The member of staff responsible for identification of Special Needs, co-ordination and monitoring of provision|
|ASA||Additional Support Assistant. A member of staff that supports students both in and out of the classroom|
|Access Arrangements||Some students may be entitled to extra support in their exams for example extra time, or a reader|
